Introducing Faith - 1962 Scotty Travel Trailer

Hello vintage travel trailer lovers! I'm Faith, the vintage 1962 Serro Scotty Sportsman Sr. Travel Trailer,  here to tell you a little bit about my exciting new future that I have to look forward to! Are you excited, dahlings? Well I am and rightly so!  Do you know what faith is? Faith is defined as a strong or unshakeable belief in something, especially without proof or evidence and also the confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing. I am Faith and I believe that I will once again be a beautiful piece of history that someone out there is going to love and cherish. I mean, just look at me....I'm one hot mess. I've got faith though. I believe without question that this new human in my life, the one they call 99 and who can be a little bit of a hot mess herself, is going to restore me back to my old glory and then some! Ready to go for a ride, dahlings? Okay, just follow along on my wonderful journey. It's going to be lovely!

Let me start by showing you what I looked like when 99 came to check me out. I was being stored in a barn in Gasport, New York. My old owner took me out to take pictures of me and 99 saw them and decided I was worth a shot. She checked me out all over, She climbed underneath me, peeled away some of my skin to get a look at my bones, checked every nook and cranny. She said things that hurt my feelings a little and then she said the most horrifying thing of all. She told my old owner that if she took me she was going to have to take off my skin and replace my bones. At first I wanted to say..hey, wait a minute here, I didn't sign up for this and then something stopped me. It must have been faith. Besides, I figured anything was better than sitting in this dark old barn for another 15 years. Last thing she said was that she would let my old owner know in a few days and they both disappeared out those heavy barn doors and the last thing I heard was the clinking of the lock. Back to my lonely old prison hidden away in the dark. Come on...I don't look that bad do I? Someone feed me some sunshine, PLEASE!!
Then it happened. The most amazing thing in I can't tell you how long!! About a week later my old owner is hooking me up and taking me on an hour and a half ride to my new home. Glory, glory hallelujah it felt awful good to be on the road again. Sites to see and a places to go. That trip only increased my faith that someday I was going to be hitting the road on a regular basis! You'll see!
Here I am sitting in my new driveway. Aren't I just a vision of loveliness. This 99 person introduced herself to me and we had a nice chat. She laid down the rules telling me I better not give her too many problems because I was part of her dream to restore trailers for a living. Cool, I'm part of a dream!

99 said I looked like bottle of Pepto Bismol exploded on the inside. I think she needed some Pepto when she got done with the initial inspection.
My previous owner's girls used to play in me when they were little. They had some good times in here. After that I just sat around collecting dust and slowly falling apart, 99 said she could almost visualize the fun they must have had because when she was a kid she used to play in an old tug boat and a camper her dad built for hunting trips. Somehow I think that made this pink issue a little more bearable.

So, that's the old me! But wait, it get's worse. This is where the major surgery comes in. I wasn't in my driveway for more than fifteen minutes and the horror you are about to witness in the photos below started happening. I didn't feel a thing though...I was in too deep a state of major shock...
Warning: If you are a vintage travel trailer viewing this blog please note that the following may not be suitable for those of you who have not yet gone through the restoration process.
I have tar all over me. 99 isn't too happy about this.

I am also not only nailed but stapled. That didn't earn me too many brownie points either. It wasn't my fault that's how Serro Scotty decided to build me!

Oh, lordy, I'm starting to feel naked in this picture. Quick someone grab me a robe or something. I'm not that kind of girl!

Looks like I am going to get a butt job too!

So I made friends with some mice over the years. I was lonely. You can't hate a girl for being a little lonely can ya? Besides, chances are if you have restored one of my relatives, this isn't the first time you have seen this type of a trailer/mouse relationship.
Some of the wood came off like paper. Guess that was a good thing!

This is me at one of my weakest moments. Had to get some braces out so I didn't collapse.

This was the end of day 1. 99 finished here and just leaned back against the hot tub and kept repeating  "Oh, Lordy, Lordy what did I get myself into?" I couldn't quite figure that out. I knew she was talking to me because she was looking right at me, but she wasn't even in the hot tub. Oh well, humans are a strange breed. I think I like this one though. She was real patient and she was smiling just about the whole time she was breaking my back....but in a soothing way. I've got faith that this is all going to turn out just fine! How about you? Are you with me on this one?  Yes? Good, because I have lots more to show you. It's been about a week now since my arrival and this 99 chick must be wearing an invisible cape or something because she hasn't stopped. We are spending lots of quality time together.
Until we touch base again folks....I'm gonna leave you with this little tidbit:

“Sometimes beautiful things come into our lives out of nowhere. We can't always understand them, but we have to trust in them. I know you want to question everything, but sometimes it pays to just have a little faith.”  - (Lauren Kate)

Don't forget, always keep the faith!
